Zimbabwe removing 12 zeroes from the national currency
As the result of 231mil.% inflation Zimbabwe issues new banknotes on 2nd february 2009 with a face value of Z$1, Z$5, Z$10, Z$20, Z$50, Z$100 and Z$500. An official at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the RBZ had to record the serial numbers of the notes issued to individual banks. These newest banknotes are to circulate alongside the previous dollar, which will remain legal tender until 30 June 2009.read more

Biannual information on euro banknote counterfeiting
In the second half of 2008 a total of 354,000 counterfeit euro banknotes were withdrawn from circulation. This is an increase of around 13% on the quantity recovered in the previous six months. The half-yearly trend in the number of counterfeits recovered, shows that there has recently been a gradual increase in the number of counterfeits. read more
